Bergischer FahrradBus starts the season on 1 May

During the summer months (May-October), the Bergische FahrradBus commutes between Leverkusen-Opladen (bus station) and Marienheide along the Balkantrasse panoramic cycle path and the Bergische Panorama-Radweg panoramic cycle path. These cycle paths have become a popular tourist highlight under the brand name ‘einfach bergisch radeln’ (simply cycle Bergisch) and are part of a network of over 300 km of routes between the Ruhr, Rhine and Sieg rivers, most of which run along former railway lines through the north of the Rheinisch-Bergisch and Oberbergisch districts.

The Bergische FahrradBus, which is labelled as such in the destination display, enables all users of the cycle paths to cover a route or part of a route comfortably by bus.

The buses are equipped with a bicycle trailer. This offers space for a total of 16 bikes, whereby e-bikes can also be carried without any problems. The fact that the trailer can only be loaded from the right-hand side ensures that passengers are not exposed to the dangers of moving traffic. In addition, up to four bicycles can also be parked on the bus.

The Bergische FahrradBus can of course also be used by passengers without bicycles. For example, it offers great connections to the trails of the Bergisches Wanderland, so you can also use the bus for a hike. Travelling on the Bergisches FahrradBus is barrier-free. It is not possible to make a reservation for the bus journey.

The buses run on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The 2025 season starts on 01.05. and ends on 05.10.2025.

Signposting

Markers between the bus stop and the cycle trail

The ways from the bus stops to the cycle trails are signposted with special markings on the routes between Leverkusen-Opladen and Marienheide. The bus stops are not far from the cycle trail and are very easy to find by following the respective markings. The marker takes the form of a logo insert in the red and white signage of the NRW cycle network.
