metabolon combines games, fun and adventure with exciting facts about energy and waste.
During the transformation of the area into an environmental learning, research and leisure site, a mountain bike park, a cross golf course, a Segway course and a low ropes course were created, among other things. You can also go hiking on the former landfill site. The compost worm "Leppel" explains the environment to children along an energy trail. Younger children can also have fun on a long, curved slide (from 3 years).
The highlight for visitors is the 360-degree view from the landfill hill, which visitors can reach after climbing 360 steps to the top. Small trampolines at the top invite visitors to get more exercise. On the way up or down, you can look into numerous waste garbage cans along the way and see or listen to all sorts of exciting things about waste - some garbage cans can even talk.
At the foot of the mountain, there is an exhibition on the topic of the "House of the Future" with a focus on energy efficiency and energy-efficient building refurbishment.
A bistro offers hot and cold food and is a good place to start or end a visit to :metabolon. In dry weather, the covered sun terrace with adjoining playground is open.
Public guided tours are offered every Friday, groups can also book guided tours at other times.
Some leisure activities can only be booked at the weekend (Saturday/Sunday), as these correlate with regular waste disposal operations during the week. The viewing platform and the bistro are accessible every day during opening hours.
A charging station for electric vehicles is located at the Leppe/:metabolon main entrance to the waste disposal center in Lindlar.
